Rainier Chamber Winds concerts combine music with other arts
Rainier Chamber Winds has collaborated with more than 20 local organizations over the years, providing children and adults with music education that integrates music with other art forms such as mime, literature, poetry, dance and visual forms of expression. Diverse venues have included the Seattle Art Museum, local art galleries, private homes, public schools, community centers, libraries, and the Lake Union workshop of glass artist Dale Chihuly. Children's Concerts
More than 6,000 children have enjoyed free concerts by the Rainier Chamber Winds in the past few years.

Performances feature original compositions, telling stories with narration and mime.

Children sit close to the performers, learn about the wind instruments, and talk about the stories and the music. They interact with hand gestures and physically respond to what they hear.

Commissions
Rainier Chamber Winds keeps a centuries-old wind ensemble heritage alive by commissioning new works for adults and for children.

Rainier Chamber Winds has over twelve premieres to its credit, including commissioned works by leading Seattle-area composers such as Ken Benshoof, Huntley Beyer, Roupen Shakarian and Adam Stern. Last year we presented a premiere work for organ solo and winds by composer Chen Yi, commissioned by the American Guild of Organists.
